Medellín Fixer

About

Someone in your corner when it goes wrong in Colombia

Medellín Fixer is 24/7 emergency legal help for foreigners in Medellín, Colombia: arrests, criminal complaints, landlord scams, police incidents, and immigration emergencies, handled in English and Spanish.

What we handle

Real legal emergencies demand someone who knows the system, speaks the language, and moves fast. We take the situations that foreigners in Medellín most often find themselves in without warning.

Arrests are the most time-sensitive. Under Colombian law, police have a maximum of 36 hours to bring a detained person before a juez de control de garantías for a legality hearing. If they miss that deadline, the detention is illegal. Every hour in that window matters, which is why we answer around the clock.

  • A family member arrested
  • A landlord stealing your deposit
  • A police incident
  • A criminal complaint, filed against you or by you
  • An immigration emergency

From crisis to resolution

What we do is legal navigation, document preparation, and crisis coordination. That means working out what has actually happened, what Colombian law says about it, which office or court is involved, what has to be filed and by when, and who needs to be in the room. We keep you informed in English while the process moves in Spanish.

Colombian law protects you even as a foreigner. Most people in the middle of a crisis do not know that, and knowing your rights is where we start.

What we are, and what we are not

Medellín Fixer is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation. For matters that require licensed legal counsel, we connect you with vetted Colombian attorneys. We say this plainly in the footer of the site because in an emergency you need to know exactly who is doing what, and we would rather you hear it from us before you call than after.

The service is available now, around the clock, and works in both English and Spanish, so nothing is lost between what you tell us and what gets filed.

Don't wait until it gets worse

Small problems in an unfamiliar legal system become large ones quickly. If something has happened, message us on WhatsApp or call +1 (614) 607-1230, any hour, in English or Spanish. If someone has been arrested, call first and explain later; the 36-hour clock is already running. For anything that is not urgent, the contact page works too.
